OK, here's one for you. Have you ever remembered you needed to take an item to work, but you weren't on the floor of your house where the item was, so you had to devise another way to remember?

Yesterday while doing my hair I remembered I had to take coffee creamer to work. Well, I'm not near the fridge. So what did I put by the bedroom door so I'd trip over it and remember the creamer? A container of deodorant, of course.

My only problem was that one of my cats started playing with it like it was a toy and I had to put it back by the door.

What a rigmarole! But I remembered the creamer!

Ugh, I hate how forgetful I am! Just this morning I again went and put my cup of coffee in the fridge because I wanted to fill it up with fresh coffee. Who does that? A couple of weeks ago, I put it in the fridge, set my egg timer of all things, and went to get it out of the microwave and it wasn't there! It must have taken me about half an hour to find it that time! It's not just the coffee either, if I want things to leave the house with me or to come back in with me, I do like you do. Thankfully though, when it comes to bringing things in, my daughter is always so interested in what it is that she empties the bags for me and puts it all away!

I know exactly how you feel. I am almost OCD about my keys. If they are not in my hands then I won't shut my car door. I am so scared I will forget them in plain sight. Too forgetful sometimes.
